Tailored Travel Talk - en route; Winter famil tour 2012
On a personal note
We have just returned from a familiarization and family tour for our daughter’s 21st (a big deal in New Zealand) and our son’s move in August to Quinnipiac University in CT for study and soccer.
Not often we have the chance to experience all our summer activities and scenery in the winter and at the same time meeting our hosts ‘off duty’.
Activities above and beyond…
We got to experience walking on the Fox Glacier, something many of our guests have done and are going to do when in New Zealand. Other options will include heli hiking or just a scenic helicopter (or fixed wing) flight with a snow landing on one of the many glaciers.
Activities for the brave and young..

Erik and Michelle both did their bungy jump at the Kawarau Bridge and skiing at Treble Cone, Wanaka as well many of the ‘summer activities’ like the various walks along the Westcoast, Arrowtown, Wanaka etc.
Exceptional winter skies…
This one is at Lake Tekapo with the Southern Alps in the distance. The winter skies are crisp and clear, often clearer than in summer. This specific area has also been recognized as the ‘Dark Sky Reserve’, approved by the global astronomical body.
